I worry because I’ve been around this business long enough to remember multiple times when the focus shifted to rapid development instead of custom development, and every time that happened, solution quality suffered
3 Comments - It's hard to know what to point you to, without knowing a bit more about what the person who wants to do Rapid Application Development means. I can say that we had Lotus Notes, and we have a pretty complex applicaiton running it it, and I could easily duplicate that in SharePoint
The key is to limit functionality in the initial rollout to “out-of-the-box” functionality, with no custom development. The first phase includes installation of the enterprise infrastructure, including servers, database, storage, network, backup and disaster recovery components, scanners and user workstations with the requisite large monitors (note: 22” widescreen LCD monitors are under $300 today)
